Akbar Pharmaceuticals reached another mile stone by acquiring a state of the art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility located at Borupona Road Ratmalana. This facility by the name of LINA Manufacturing Pvt ltd specializes in the manufacture of respiratory care products. The products comprises of Steroids and Bronchodilators presented in the form of capsules in micronized powder for inhalation.

LINA manufacturing is equipped with fully automated state of the art machinery which includes mixers, capsuling machines, and blister packing machines. The factory has a fully fledged laboratory equipped with a cascading impactor(Artificial Lung).

This factory is the brainchild of Dr. Anil Goonethilaka a Leading Physician who spent over 10 years on developing the facility and the products. Further he developed a device to administer these medications with the technical assistance of the University of Moratuwa. Dr. Goonathilaka won the President’s award in 2007 for New Innovations, in appreciation of developing this device.

This is the first time in the history of Sri Lanka where these categories of products are manufactured by an indigenous manufacturer.
